Which Master Do You Serve? For the worldly, self-centered, individual, “success” is measured by acquiring and experiencing all that this world has to offer, and sees the inevitable end of such things to be a tragedy, and something they desire to put off, for as long as possible.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying whatever legitimate activities and secular prosperity that one has the privilege of experiencing during this relatively brief time that one has been given (3John 1: 2), here on Earth.

But there is everything wrong if one neglects his or her spiritual calling in the process (Mark 8: 36).

For the heavenly-minded, Christ-centered individual, “… to live is (for) Christ, and to die is gain (Phil.1: 21 NASB2020 parenthesis mine).” Most Christians have heard this verse, but very few I have ever known reach this stage of spiritual maturity.

The truth is, you can’t serve (live for) two different masters at the same time (Matt. 6: 24).
