God Thinks About Me

“I am thinking about you,” is a comforting statement we make to a friend, loved one, or someone we are concerned about.  Greeting cards will sometimes say, “I am thinking of you,” or, “I have been thinking about you.”  Especially in our trials, it is a comfort to know that someone is thinking of us.

Elderly people can often feel that no one is thinking about or caring about them.

But did you know that God thinks about you individually and personally?  David’s Messianic Psalm 40, although prophetic, is also reflecting a time of trial in his life.  David wrote,  “But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me:” (Psalm 40:17 KJV). Earlier in this chapter (40:5) he wrote, “Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.”

In Psalm 139:17 KJV,  David praises the Lord saying, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” To recognize that God, who is all-knowing (omniscient), all-powerful (omnipotent), and everywhere present (omnipresent), thinks about me, is an astounding fact.  Our comforting friends may think about us often.  But this is much more comforting: The God who knows us better than we could know ourselves, knows all our strengths and weaknesses, knows all our needs; the God who is all-powerful and able to meet our needs; the God who sees us all the time wherever we are; This is the God who thinks about us personally.  Therefore, we can trust Him to meet our every need.
