Let us therefore come boldly before the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16

Do we come boldly before the Father, as He has invited us to, or do we approach Him with fear and trepidation, hesitant to ask any small thing?

John Newton, former slave trader and composer of the beloved hymn, Amazing Grace, penned the following words.

"Thou art coming to a King
Large petitions with thee bring,
For His grace and power are such
None can ever ask too much."

Nancy Spiegelberg wrote the following poem which we have displayed in our home. I'm challenged every time I read it!

"Lord, I crawled across the barrenness to You
with my empty cup, uncertain in asking
any small drop of refreshment.
If only I had known You better,
I'd have come running with a bucket."

Let's trust God for "big things". If we don't, then it might be said, as J. B. Phillips entited his book, "Your God Is Too Small". He is NOT too small! He is mighty and worthy to be trusted! Let's approach Him boldly, confident that He hears, cares and answers.

David,
Thanks for a very good lesson. I'm running to get my bucket!
