When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 14:7-11 NIV
Exaltation on our part is meant only to be to and for God for all He is and all which He does for us. Those who exalt themselves are caught up in self. They do not accept the fact that what they have has been given to them by God. Instead, they believe it is only on their own account. Seek to be exalted here on earth and see what type of reward you receive from the Lord. It won’t be anything worth having. If you work at being exalted, you shall end up being humbled by the Lord. Our exaltation is meant to be given to God, as He provides to us everything we have. Our blessings come from Him. Without Him we would have nothing. If you exalt God, giving Him thanks and praise for all He provides to you, your blessings will be even more. All that is good comes from the Lord and not from our own doing.
