Is It Lawful?

There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?” But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way. Luke 14:2-4 NIV

Here Jesus asks the leaders at the home a legitimate question. They refused to answer Him even though they believed performing a work on the Sabbath was unlawful. I think they might have just realized there were some things within their laws that truly were man-made. Jesus took their silence as an opportunity to heal the man. No one was raising a verbal objection. What man-made rules do we adhere to today which are not of God? Let our spirit be healed every day through Christ and may we not be held down by that which is not of God.
