     In the words of one wise Puritan sage: “The well is deep…but our brains are shallow.” Thus the need for the Man of God involved in gospel ministry to keep his brains sharp in the daily depths of the KJV Bible.

     We are in the last times, as laid out in KJV Bible Prophecy. Technology has exploded. Your smartphone has MORE computing power than a room full of 1950s computers. No longer is it required that a preacher attend a Bible College or Seminary to get advanced training in the gospel minister. In truth, fewer such institutions are loyal to the KJV Bible. Thus a preacher has to rely on the leading of the Spirit for needed advanced KJV Bible education. If you search for such classes or institutions which support the KJV, you can find them through the Internet.

     Let me throw in a warning at this point. Jesus was a preacher and teacher without letters. He is the God-man. However, the Apostle Paul—at one point during a stay in prison—urged his brethren to bring his cloak, and the books and parchments (II Timothy 4:13 KJV). He—as well as the other Apostles had to ‘grind it out’ with the Holy Spirit to learn what He had for them to learn so they could preach what the Holy Ghost wanted PREACHED.

     A REAL Man of God is not only a student of the Bible, but is one who believes in mastering the reading, writing, and speaking about the KJV Bible. Show me a Man of God who is more ‘hung up’ on his ‘tech toys’ and won’t sit down daily to study the scriptures, and I’ll show you a man who will be humbled from an unknown source—like Peter was humbled by the maiden outside of the judgement hall where Jesus was being falsely tried. Satan will ALWAYS have his demons and supporters READY to try to crush an uninformed Man of God.

     Brother, IF you want to heed your call into the gospel ministry, be warned. You must be addicted to serving the Saints. Thus, you have to be prepared at EVERY opportunity to do your best to serve the Lord and His Church. Where did I get the word ‘addicted’? I Corinthians 16:15 KJV! The ONLY time the word is used in the Scriptures, and the ONLY time the Apostle Paul uses it to describe service to the Saints…and the Lord’s church is to be full of his saints. Trained for His service; raised up in holiness and turned loose to serve.

     A preacher must also be aware of the fact that there will be OTHERS in the gospel ministry who will be jealous of you, because YOU are getting closer to Jesus and letting HIM build your ministry, rather than relying on men to make you ‘preach worthy’. As my pastoral mentors taught me: “A true preacher does NOT beg for opportunities to preach!” Your Lord will open the door when HE deems that you have a word for his people.

     I have little regard for Pastors who say that they can’t ‘get their men fired up for service’ but have women and children abounding in the Pulpit and the Pew. Balderdash! It simply means that these Pastors don’t know how to be men…and take it out by being fearful of trying to relate to the men in their OWN churches. They have become ‘feminized’ by the spirit of the age. They need a shot of testosterone and repenting and getting before Jesus and asking Him to give them their manhood BACK!

     Let me pursue this point a little further. I served under several great Pastors who had little trouble in rallying their men! Why? Because these Pastors took the time to fellowship with them, train them, and remind them that it was alright to be a Christian man. They encouraged their preachers to hit the gospel books, seek out workshops, bible colleges, seminaries and other resources that would aid their growth as not only preachers, but Men of God. These Pastors helped their families and got along with their wives, but made sure to talk up and support the heads of the home.

    Henpecked and weak men are a threat to the church and Christian manhood. Grow a pair, sir! Yes, my brother, I realize that you have a houseful of daughters and no sons. Yes, my brother, I realize that you have a host of women and children waiting on you in your church. God—through Jesus Christ—wants MEN in his service; real MEN who will hit the road for the gospel’s sake. MEN to fill the pulpits. MEN to fill the Missionary ranks. MEN to serve as KJV Bible Teachers and Deacons. The 12 Apostles were all MEN, period. MEN, IF you know your Bible, can handle the heat of the gospel battle BETTER than women.

     Pastor, IF you are raising up women to the gospel ministry INSTEAD of or AHEAD of your men, you are not only placing a curse on YOUR ministry; you are placing a curse on your church and those who rely on your leadership. Further, IF you are saved, you are NOT going to have a good time before the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ when you have to give an account, as all of his Ministers will have to eventually do, Amen?

     Getting back to education for gospel ministers. Thanks to the Internet, you can attend Bible College or Seminary on line—IF you can find one that reflects conservative and KJV beliefs. However, the classroom is NOT the beginning nor the end of the education process for a preacher. Reading the preaching classics is recommended, along with listening to a sermon a day from a trusted ministry. Also, I would trust that I have made it clear that you need a KJV Bible. The top of the line is a Thompson Chain Reference Bible, keyed to the KJV.

     Here are a few of the classics that I recommend to be read—and re-read—over time:

                        *An All Around Ministry by Spurgeon

                        *Great Doctrines of the Bible by Evans

     In addition, here are a few great websites that can lead you to low cost or free stuff:

     Bottom line? The gospel minister has the responsibility to his own education for the glory of God, no matter his additional vocation. It will take prayer, faith and time to grow in the ministry. Let the Lord lay your foundation and the rest of the material you will need will be sent your way.

     Here’s a great closing illustration as I wrap this up. Years ago, there were men who made the trek through the wilderness by horseback. They were godly men who were called Circuit Riders. They took the gospel to places that didn’t have physical churches and were hard to reach. These men had heeded the gospel call, took their horses, books and such and struck off on their ‘gospel rounds’. Sometimes, these warriors of the frontier faith had an assistant who was learning the ministry by their example. These men studied together, were housed together, and the underling learned what he needed to be an effective Circuit Rider. The time came when this young preacher was blessed by his mentor, and struck out to face the gospel frontier on his own.

     This is why, my young preacher, you need to learn your lessons well. The day WILL come—often sooner than you may think—that you will be in the ministry the Lord has for you, and a young man will come to your side as sent by Jesus to be taught. My friend, IF you have been taught well, you will TEACH well, Amen?
