Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” Luke 12:51-53 NIV

Yes, Jesus did come to bring division. It is not that He wants division, but we have been given free will by God. We can choose to believe whatever we wish. God wans us all to believe in the Son, as He is our redemption. He is our Savior. He is the only one who can restore us through His sacrificial blood shed on the cross. God provides the answer to our sin. But we get to choose whether or not we accept the redemption offered. Families will be divided on this matter. God looks to the heart of every individual. Do we accept the gift offered or refuse to accept it? Sadly, there will always be division over Christ. We must choose to follow in His step, obedient to what He asks us to do.
