The Holy Spirit Part 14

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:4-5 NIV

Jesus was sharing a final meal with His disciples before going to the Father. He tells them specifically to not leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Just as John had baptized many with water, so were the disciples to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. The time was near for the coming of the promised gift, sent by the Father, that the disciples not be left orphaned. How can one face the lies and deceit of this world without the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit?
