Jogging For Peace And Tranquility

Since joining the United States Army in my 20th year of life, I have found that jogging or hitting the treadmill provides me the opportunity to pray and reflect on my relationship with God. As the miles of the Oklahoma scenery pass with the minutes, I pray for family, friends, nation, Christianity and self with the hope that God’s will be done.

Whether I jog along the sparsely traveled state highway number 3 or quietness of an early morning cement covered neighborhood street, I hear God speaking through His creation. Not only do the floodplain of the North Canadian River and the cattle feeding near it provide renewal and relief; so do the children waiting on the corner for their school bus and the drivers at the self-service gasoline quick stop filling up their cars to get to work. I am inspired and thankful to all of these things and people around me. Through God’s loving hands, all that I see and experience has been put into place.

My jogging period allows for talking with God and listening to His response. Generally, I just pray and left in awe at all that God have given me to see and hear in this little spot of Oklahoma. And even though I do not directly pray to God with my mind and voice during the course of every minute of any given day, God has constant awareness of me that gives me peace and comfort in a scary and dangerous world to my spiritual well-being.

Prayer: Almighty Father, help remind me that You are here right now. Let me marvel and enjoy the beauty You have created in the world and in me.
