     Let me start out this segment with an opening reminder: The Pastor sets the tone in his church for soul winning, aka evangelism. Sadly, over the years, I have come across many churches woefully inept at soul winning. Simply put: what the pulpit won’t teach the importance of; the pew won’t do.

     Let me hasten to add this point to you young Christian brothers coming into the gospel ministry. What you did for Jesus BEFORE you become a gospel minister will be supplemented, strengthened, and needed MORE once you enter the field as a preacher. IF you have been strong in the scriptures, prayer, evangelism, and other grace-filling ventures for the Lord as a regular Christan man—these skills will NEED to be strengthened upon entering the gospel ministry.

     Not only out of obedience to Jesus, but to protect yourself, your family, and your ministry.

     Over the years, I have studies various false religions and cults. They are more than capable of teaching their followers about not only their ‘religion’ but how to share their religion door-to-door or by other means. During the Wuhan Virus (Covid 19) a few years ago, one such false religion took to the mails to ‘share their faith’. Sadly, true Christianity—the relationship with God that has the truth for the souls of men and women—comes up short with the same zeal in sharing the truth of the Scriptures.

     A few years back, I had the opportunity to teach a District Youth gathering. I had a group of older teens, some of whom were to be heading off to college in the fall. Out of that group of about a dozen young people, maybe ONE was open to learning how to witness to others about their Christian faith. One out of twelve. Sadder still, many of these youth had been participants in this District Youth summer get-together for a number of years. No one in ministerial authority ‘bothered’ to check the effectiveness of this ‘Youth Ministry’ woman and the fruit that she was responsible for bringing in to the glory of God.

     I fondly remember a story from one of my mentoring Pastors. He had a major problem with one of his deacons about soul winning. This Pastor heard objections from this deacon for a number of weeks, all this while other men of the church—including other deacons—hit the streets and projects taking Jesus to those in need. Finally, my mentor taught this ‘objecting deacon’ HOW to evangelize; how to win souls.

     It was like a light switch came on. The deacon went from being a roadblock to a soul winner. All because he was willing to humble himself, accept some teaching and training from his pastor, and go into the field and try for himself. He wasn’t deterred by those who rejected his message. In fact, each discouragement served as an encouragement to stay on the evangelism field.

     My young brother, learn how to win souls. Evangelism works in building the church MORE than programs, bribes, and pleas from those who are involved in soul winning. The Great Commission in Matthew 28 is not a suggestion; it is a COMMAND from the Captain of our salvation. Telling someone about Jesus is as easy as breathing. All you have to do—if you do not know how to win souls is go to someone who IS involved in evangelism and LEARN what you need to know to do it! Revelation 12:11(KJV) further holds that the blood of the lamb AND the word of our testimony are a one-two combination that cannot be defeated by the world, the flesh, and the devil.

     It cannot be defeated by cults nor false religions. THIS is why the devil puts up such a ‘kick’ against Christians concerning evangelism. SATAN knows it works. Stop and think about it. What can a false religion do for their followers that is better than what Jesus Christ has done for you?
