Please allow me to finish a few things from our last time together. First, you must KNOW that you KNOW that you are ‘born from above’…meaning saved. You have felt the tug of the Holy Spirit (John 6:44 KJV) and you confess that you KNOW that you are a sinner and outside of the will of God. You want to repent (turn away from your sinful life) and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior by asking him personally to take up residence in your heart. Lastly, you accept by faith the free grace gift of salvation from Jesus Christ. You are saved by His grace (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).

The second call in a Christian man’s life may be the call into the gospel ministry—preaching the Word of God. Again, you are drawn by the Holy Spirit and you KNOW that you KNOW that God has called you INTO the gospel ministry.

If you have taken care of your salvation through Jesus Christ this second call is just as critical.

I’m going to state this plainly: A Christian MUST know their KJV Bible BETTER than a salesman knows his wares. Meaning that it is up to the Christian to ready and study their Scriptures DAILY! You EAT three meals a day, right? Thus, God expects His people to be IN the Word on a daily basis. God also expects those whom he has called into the gospel ministry to follow the same ‘breakfast of champions’ dedication to studying their KJV Bible DAILY! NOT just to find sermon material, but to grow in grace and the knowledge of God and his plan for your life.

Remember what happened to Peter on that cold night of Jesus’ being taken to the judgment hall? At some point, he was quizzed by a young woman about whether or not he had been with Jesus. NOT being sure of his own testimony about being with the Master, Peter denied the Lord three times. Just as Jesus had prophesied, Peter acted accordingly, if not cowardly. But, after Peter was publicly restored by the Lord, and, after Pentecost, Peter went on to become the leader of the Apostles. Peter went from being the Coward at Calvary to being the Hero of Pentecost.

He learned how to follow his Lord; he learned how to lean on Jesus and NOT to be ashamed of Him. That’s what it means to getting to KNOW the Lord through being in His word daily and getting to KNOW Him.

Next, you may ask, am I such a stickler for the KJV? Simple. You want the BEST tools for the job. For a Christian man, I would heartily recommend the KJV because of its accuracy, depth, and manner of ‘telling it like it is’ when it comes to the Word of God. Keep this in mind: The KJV thrived for more than 280 years before the first ‘new’ translation (the RSV) showed up on the scene. Since the introduction of the RSV around 1881 or so, it wasn’t long before other, more inferior translations surfaced. Currently there are more than twenty-one ‘other’ translations of the scriptures, with more being produced every few years.

Satan’s master plan with these translations other than the KJV? To get folks to doubt and question whether or not they have the right scriptures. How does one test their Scriptures to determine ‘if’ they have the best one? Go back to the KJV. It has a history of success.

Further, it makes the devil’s minions scream, and gets Satan to back up.

Now that you know that you need to read the Scriptures daily, what does one read when they are starting out on the gospel trail. Of course, it helps to follow the Spirit of the Lord. However, it is recommended that a Christian man start off on the following regimen to get them through the right portion of the KJV Bible each and every day of the week:

*Day One: In the Old Testament, a chapter from one of the Books of the Law and a chapter from one of the Books of History.

*Day Two: In the Old Testament, a chapter from one of the Books of Poetry, a chapter from the Book of Psalms AND a chapter from the Book of Proverbs.

*Day Three: In the Old Testament, a chapter from one of the Major Prophets, and a chapter from one of the Minor Prophets.

*Day Four: In the New Testament, a chapter from one of the four Gospels, and a chapter from the Book of Acts.

*Day Five: In the New Testament, a chapter from one of the Pauline Epistles.

*Day Six: In the New Testament, a chapter from one of the Epistles General.

*Day Seven: In the New Testament, a chapter from The Book of Revelation.

Thus, one will be able to have dedicated reading seven days a week, and head back to the beginning reading area in Day One. Over the course of time, as you get to know the Bible better, you can add other items to your reading from the Scriptures, as the Lord sees your need. Further, the MORE of the KJV Bible you read, the MORE that you will want to read!

Daily Bible reading will soon give you the ability to connect various bible books with other bible books, scripture with scripture, Old Testament with New Testament and will give you a better perspective for God’s word as you continue to grow as a Christian man. More to come.
