Sorrow is the dense darkness of the cavern when I walk with slow steps far into its depth and the light disappears.
The memory fades that once held the brightness of my soul as sorrow fills the crevices with heaviness that darkens the joy of what is now forever lost.
Sorrow passed through my anguished heart and the chasm split time from one life to another never to return.

I wrote this poem from my personal experience. I know how the grip of sorrow and grief can rob the heart of experiencing joy and peace in everyday life.
If you are experiencing sorrow, you are not alone. Embrace the love and comforting arms of Jesus as he speaks to you through his Word. He can bring you out of the pain of sorrow and into a place of rest for your soul as you trust in him.
Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before going to the cross. He languished in sorrow; his sweat became like great drops of blood. Jesus experienced grief unlike anyone before him or after. With extreme compassion, he understands what you are going through. He will never leave you.
Jesus began his journey to the cross after leaving the garden. There on the cross he bore our grief and carried our sorrows, freeing us forever.
I encourage you to meditate on the Bible verses below or any others that inspire you. His Word breathes spirit and life.
Heavenly Father, I pray for the person reading this post. I pray for the power of your redeeming love to free them from the pain of sorrow and grief so they can find joy and peace once again. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
