Three Recent Improvements

  We may be on the verge of a technological breakthrough with regard to cell phones being made "butt call proof."  But the downside is the those who receive no other calls but the ones that come by accident will receive no calls whatsoever. It's hard to imagine but it's true that there are some lonely ones in our society who even look forward to being called by accident.
  Furthermore the self check-out stands are expanding at such a rate that at certain places and in some stores they have completely replaced cashiers. It saves a lot of time for many people, but the problem is that there are some who look forward to those casual interactions, because they have no other fellowship to brighten their days.
  Lastly the "peace and tranquillity" of a local neighborhood has been much enhanced by the silencing of a bothersome barking dog. Turns out an accommodating veterinarian (others may have turned down the job) performed surgery removing his bark box or vocal cords to the relief of a neighbor or two, but to the chagrin of one female mutt, who now mourns the loss of her nightly love song.
