C Ahh..Yes..Values. It’s time we got ourselves a Value Statement.

2 Excellent idea Cap’n. Hoist the mainsail! Swab the deck! Prepare a raiding party!

C What are you doing Number 2?

2 Preparing to plunder, pillage and pilfer!

C What for?

2 A valuable statement Cap’n. Like you said!

C Idiot!

2 Aye Cap’n.

C A value statement is a statement about the things we value.

2 Ohhh! Ummm, buried treasure, rum, pillaging, walking the plank, rum, parrots, cutlasses, plundering, rum, eyepatches, hooks, maps, spots marked with an X rum and ummm rum!

C Idiot!

C A value statement is about how and why we do what we do. Understand?

C Good. Give me an example.

2 Ok. Ummm. We value making people walk the plank…ços the look on their face just before they fall off is very very funny!

C Idiot!

C Like this. We value Strong Leadership. Strong Leadership develops loyalty, unity and a team ethic. Strong Leadership develops discipline and direction. Strong Leadership communicates to our local community that we are committed to our mission.

2 That’s nice Cap’n. Strong Leadership!...It’s a pity isn’t it Cap’n?

2 That we didn’t have our value statement before the crew mutinied and marooned us on this deserted island!
