“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” Luke 11:24-26 NIV

What might be Jesus’ point here? One may on their own make a decision to try and live a more moral life than they currently do. This would be akin to an evil spirit deprating from him. But if this change is not the result of one giving their life over to Jesus Christ, the change will most likely not last for a lengthy period of time. Temptation and the ways of this world will influence the one who made a change. The evil one will crrep back in with temptations and the end result will more than likely not be good. To truly make a change and drive out evil, one must turn their life over to Jesus Christ. He is the only One to truly drive out evil within someone.
