     I’ve had my share of firefights over this topic; I’ve lost friends and made more than a few enemies. Nevertheless, this topic could be considered the bedrock of studying Bible Prophecy in that there is only ONE version of the Holy Scriptures that one should consider ‘most accurate.’

     Are you ready? The version that I am referring to is the King James Version; the Authorized Version of the Bible, released to the world in 1611 AND unchallenged in the public arena until roughly 1881, when those who ‘thought’ that it should be ‘updated’ and ‘revised’ came out with the Revised Standard Version of the Scriptures…and the power of the Spirit slipped away from that version, and every succeeding version AFTER the KJV.

     Since then, scholars have added about twenty-five more translations to the public.

     Want to know what God is REALLY saying? Stick with the King’s Book, the KJV!

     In my humble opinion, there are four very solid, introductory reasons why one who is serious in understanding what Thus Saith The Lord on the subject of prophecy. There are other reasons which will surface in part two of my column. Let’s dive into the controversy.

     I’ve had more than a few people use the excuse: “Well, we don’t talk that way today!” You would be amazed as the types of people who have used this line of logic on me, when I would contend for the KJV. My response is still the same…Balderdash!

     There are some versions of old English that one should respect and continue to add to their understanding reservoir. A few years back, some ‘wizards of smart’ decided to change the language of Shakespear when it came to putting forth and ‘re-imagining’ some of his classic plays. The experiment failed miserably. The chief reason? Folk had gotten used to ‘the King’s English’ that was used by ‘the Bard’ when he originally put forth his literary works. In short, they made the ‘extra effort’ in comprehending what Shakespear was trying to state when he composed some of the greatest plays in world history.

     If people have enough sense to understand Shakespear when it comes to his works, why all the hassle when it comes to the KJV? Simple. Men and women—even in the pulpit and the church house—would rather have it on their terms than on the Lord’s. They would rather bring their biblical understanding down low, rather than lift their aspirations up to meet the Lord on His mountain. It was the same in the era when the KJV was translated and made available for public use. It is just as true today. Just as an aside, it took four years to translate the scriptures into the KJV version. Historically, it has been recorded that The RCC (Roman Catholic Church) did their best to sabotage the process. King James—no saint by any means—reportedly put massive security in place to block their efforts. But I digress.

     Let me move on to my introductory reasons why the KJV is head, shoulders, and feet above all the other translations currently on the market.

     First, it is the version that makes Satan and his crowd ‘back up’ whenever it is applied. Check out what Jesus himself told Satan in the valley of testing and trial, contained in Matthew, Chapter 4, and Luke, Chapter 4. Satan tried bribery, intimidation, and manipulation of the Scriptures to take Jesus off of his game. In EACH case, Jesus cited “It is written,” and moved forward by speaking what the Lord had for Him to say. Satan ‘backed up’ and backed off for a season.

     Do you want to determine IF you have the right version? See if Satan retreats as you advance with your translation. Better yet, check these two KJV chapters against your translation. Notice any ‘changes’?

     Second, let’s move on to a related subject. Deliverance Ministry and the Blood of Jesus Christ. Most modern translations have little mention of the power of the Blood of Jesus—another weapon in the arsenal of God that will make Satan and his crew back up, and back off. Further, the Blood is the SINGLE item that will break the chains of darkness, sin, and other hellish forces that can bind and blind a person. Mark, Chapter 5 gives full proof of this in the KJV. Also, Acts, Chapter 19 allows one to see what happens when men make the attempt to free a person from demonic possession without the Blood of Jesus being on them.

     “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?”

     Without the Blood, those attempting to fight against those bound in the devil’s service will get a REAL shock. You won’t lean about the Blood in many of the other translations. Only the KJV give a full play-by-play.

     Third, Spiritual Warfare. The KJV lays it out in great detail, both in the Old and New Testaments. Joshua. Job. David. The Prophets. Jesus Himself. The Apostles. Satan will do ANYTHING to attempt to stop the forward progress of God’s word. Counterfeiting of the Word is not above his pay grade. Satan will us any trick to diminish the Word, blind the saints, and darken the eyes of sinners. The Armor of God, all seven pieces PLUS the Holy Spirit’s sealing of it are mentioned in great detail.

     You won’t find much accuracy in the ‘comic book’ modern translations.

     Lastly, Bible Prophecy. If you want an accurate portrait of what is to come, you can’t top the KJV. Many of the modern translations miss by MILES when it comes to the end times. Even the modern translations of The Book of the Revelation have spiritual holes you can drive a truck through. Hardly worth using a pale copy, when the KJV is the most accurate on the block.

     Yes, many ‘upscale’ prophecy ministries use multiple translations. However, in their doing this, and getting away from the KJV, they have served to put forth more confusion than accuracy. Again, when you are getting into Eschatology (study of the end times), since we are living under the New Covenant, we need more—not less—clarity as to what lies ahead.

     As I wrap this segment up, let me make it clear. You are free to use whatever version strikes your fancy. I will keep the KJV in my arsenal.
