JFK’’s Assassination Revisited
“Nobody can stop an assignation.” .. President John F Kennedy, on the morning of November 22, 1963. (Dan Evon, Scopes 11,24,2016)
Although the release of the rest of the investigation documents concerning JFK’s assassination probably won’t reveal that much more, it is good that President Trump chose to do so. It may shed some light on the CIA’s surveillance of Lee Harvey Oswald around the time of the assassination.
As an older person, I have been interested in JFK’s assassination and have spent a day in Dealey Plaza, visiting all aspects of the related grounds and buildings. Having done so, I am among the 60% of U.S., adults who feel Oswald did not act alone, and I believe that their feelings are unlikely to ever change.
One thing about the assassination that I could not understand was why the Dallas Office of the FBI did not detain and arrest Lee Oswald when he stormed into the FBI office 10 days before the assassination, threatening to “blow their building and the Police Station up” if their agents did not stop bothering his wife to get questions answered about him, and leaving a written note saying as much.
I thought surely that they would have held and charged Oswald with terrorism or something similar. Instead, he was allowed to return to work at the Texas Schoolbook Depository Building, just a block and a half away.
It is not my place to question why that decision was made, nor to speculate as to why; however, if the remaining documents just released last Thursday (pending 180-day national security review) do clearly show that the CIA had Oswald under their surveillance, then there is the answer as to why Lee Harvey was allowed to leave to return to work after making such threats.

:
JFK was a marked man for assassination by entities who had a great deal more power than he did, and he would have been killed elsewhere if not in Dallas.
However, that is not my point. Had the FBI arrested Oswald when he threatened to blow up their headquarters, he would not have been free to kill Kennedy, as the Warren Commission concluded that he did. A future FBI Chief would say that failing to arrest Oswald was a tragic mistake.
We shall see what the last release of the JFK assassination documents says about the CIA's observation of Oswald and the timeline.
