Alone and Bitter

“So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God (James 1:19-20 NKJV).”

Have you been accused of having a bad temper? It seems that those with bad tempers fight the negative behavior most of their lives. I’ve heard that taking deep breaths and counting to ten helps. The One who calmed the raging seas will give us the strength to control our tempers.

“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:31-32 NKJV).”

Perhaps you’re patient and easy going but someone you know has a short fuse. It’s hard to deal with someone who hurls verbal abuse in your direction. Your patience is tested and self-control is difficult. God's word warns us about association with those easily angered.

"Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go, lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul (Proverbs 22:24 NKJV)."

Hot tempered individuals unknowingly cool off needed relationships.

They may find themselves left alone and bitter.
