Lost Sheep of Israel

As a people they have wandered
Throughout nations far and wide,
Have like lost sheep long meandered
But found no rest-place to reside.

Though they seem to settle quietly
In some distant far off lands,
If the mood swings only slightly
And the flames of hate are fanned

They might have to leave behind them
Their belongings, all they own—
Hate and pogroms still remind them—
This is not their lasting home.

Though antisemites terrorise them
From the cradle to the grave,
Though the world might ostracise them
God has promised they’ll be saved.

Holy Scripture shows it clearly
To His people and His land,
To be His, will cost them dearly,
Which most fail to understand.

As God’s witness were elected,
Not because of moral worth
But were sovereignly selected
To reveal Him to the earth.

That they fell short is not in question
As the Scripture clearly says,
But they’re still His, by God’s election,
And figure large in latter days.

Now those days are quickly nearing,
It befits we be aware
Of Messiah’s soon appearing—
There’s so little time to spare.

Jacob’s trouble’s in the offing,
( Let the reader understand )
Though the multitudes be scoffing—
Tribulation is at hand!

Holy remnant from the nation
Will then cry out in their strife
And experience salvation,
Trading hopelessness for life.

Then, no longer persecuted,
Rachel’s wails no longer sound,
The pledged Kingdom’s instituted
And the King of Glory’s crowned.
