I was thinking of the design I am knitting into the sweater I'm hoping to make, and how the second color is knit in, one stitch at a time, then back to the main color for the rest of the row.....on the next row across, the second color adds more, but not in the same places as the last, it still looks so random, there is no way to tell yet what the finished design will be.
On the inside of the sweater there are two ways you can proceed to handle the second strand of yarn....you can let it hang loose til its needed again, or you can twist the two together with each stitch that you make, invisible but still part of the design.
The first creates loops of loose yarn on the back, just waiting to be snagged on a finger and tear.....but the other one leaves the inside as smooth as the front, you can't even tell the second color is there.
I think back on my life before you were in it, and think I was like that first way.....my life was at loose ends, not attached securely to anything, everything that I tried ended up in a tangle full of knots, and the ends were beginning to fray.
I struggled and fought so hard to make it on my own, trying everything I knew how to do....until I looked up and saw that Jesus was just waiting there, if I'd just ask, He'd do what I couldn't, He'd fix it and make me brand new.
So that's what I did, and I gave Him the mess that I'd made of my life up til then, and I was awed to see what changes He wrought, the tangles and knots were gone like they'd never been.
After a time of His choosing, God chose a new design for me....one that couldn't be completed with just one color....and into my life God brought you, and everything changed, the desire of my heart came to be!
Now our two colors together are knitting that design, one that God shows us each day to add to the design...and between each stitch and the next, our two colors are twined, ready to add your stitch, and then to add mine.
We only see the back, the design is indistinct, but the joy comes in the making of each stitch...knowing that we're together, following God's plan, creating His pattern as we go, we'll never be alone, we're twined around each other, our love is complete...happiness more than I'd ever thought I'd know.
And someday we may see the front of that design, to see the beauty of God's plan, the one that we're meant to be....I think it will be a picture, stitched in tenderness and joy and prayer, of the love we share, me for you and you for me.

Trish, May we always allow the Master Weaver to work His perfect design in our lives. Thanks for another inspirational "love letter." Much Love, Rita
You give us a small glimpse, a hint of what that finished product is, and Trish, it's most beautiful from what tiny vision that we can grasp already. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard..."
