                                Worship To Win

 But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant. 
Mark 10:43 RSV

I have heard it said how we are to ‘Worship to Win-not to lose.’

The thought behind this is witnessed a lot when viewing some sporting events. The winning basketball or football team is leading by a point or two and will do everything to run down the clock. We might witness many who wear the name Christian- often live their lives running down the clock of their faith, living from fear over Satan’s lies thrown at them.

All followers of Jesus will experience pressure to remain steadfast in holding onto God’s word in his or her own heart. One on my favorite  challenges I work hard at to hang on to, 1 Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Don’t allow our ‘feelings,’ to give room for living in our own  reasoning and strength. Waiting in fear for the clock to run down. God created us on purpose for His purpose, not to be fearful of Satan’s darts and  lies.  I witness many of my brothers and sisters in our fellowship so exhausted running not to win.  
 
 For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45  
Finding ‘joy living in Jesus,’ comes when giving of self for another in need of something we can provide. To love that neighbor with what God wants us to provide.  Whether a service, or an object to give… we’re worshiping to win the race for God’s honor. Not run down the clock of time remaining with exhaustion and despair.

Father, open our hearts to show us what your Spirit is asking us to do, living to win for your honor, AMEN
