Now that we are in the beginning of a New Year, I believe that it is high time that we stop relying on the ‘bad news’ of lack of fathers (and mothers) in many homes, and sing the praises of the fathers who are on the job, doing the job, and making headway against the winds of the worldly negativity which has wrapped our American society over the last several decades.

Feminism may be a wicked culprit—but Satan has many tricks at his disposal!

Not only should we give honor to the fathers who are IN the home, but we should give double honor to those fathers who have surrendered themselves to Jesus Christ, and have been blessed to be counted as Christian men, and Christian fathers.  Yes, they have their faults.  Yes, they have feet of clay as other men.  Being a Christian does not mean that you will be free from temptation, sin, sins, or shortcomings.  Naming the name of Christ does not mean that you will no longer have problems, trials or tribulations.

But thank God you have an advocate who can defend your case in the royal courtroom of heaven AND back up His principles and precepts in your home and family.

Oh, in walking the dusty roads of earth here on the ‘funky electronic frontier’, there is a temptation of seeing only the bad, and overlooking the good.  It seems that ‘good news’ is the first thing that many cry for in the ‘mainstream mess’, or in social media, but when it comes about, many are quick to dismiss it as ‘meaningless’ or ‘not relevant’ to our age.

      Balderdash!

First, the hat must be tipped to fathers who also are Pastors of local churches.  The KJV Bible has strict standards for those men, covered in the Epistles of I Timothy, II Timothy, and Titus.  The Apostle Paul, under the direction and leading of the Holy Ghost, wrote those specifics for Men of God who have been called to be Pastors. I know many Pastors who have filled these requirements, have run successful churches and led successful families in a faithful manner.

I did not say ‘perfect’.  I DID say ‘successful’.  Let me move on.  There are many men who are Christians who are Deacons in their churches.  They too are subject to the same biblical requirements of leadership in the church, and headship over their families.  Their wives submit to them, and their children obey them.  Further, there are Christian men in the church who are laymen: servants in the church, and leaders in their homes.  Oh, if more Christian brothers would be able to share the secrets of their success with other Christian men IN the church, it would eventually spread out into society and homes would be the major receivers of such blessings.  You see, faith in Jesus is caught AND taught.  But it is taught by example—both biblical and practical.

It is far too easy for the ‘wizards of smart’ to blame America’s moral ills on fatherlessness, instead of looking in the mirror and admitting that sin—in many forms—is at the root of many issues.  The old African proverb comes into play here: “Give advice: If people refuse to heed it, let adversity teach them.”

How’s your obedience when YOU have been given sound advice concerning Jesus Christ?

This New Year is a perfect opportunity for more men IN Christ to reach out to their brothers in their neighborhoods with this hope that they possess.  A father who is IN Christ is a man with a solution to help build men into the fathers that they COULD be!  That is why the Christian father is a power for positive change, social success, and biblical faithfulness.  The world/society may not know you are on the job, but God knows the influence you possess.  After all, once you took of the saving mantle of Jesus Christ, you became a part of HIS family.  Through the Lord’s leadership, you can be a Christian father with success, impact, and faithfulness.

Want to be a successful father?  It starts at the foot of the Cross.  Not religion—but relationship!
