Sexual purity is not very revered these days. If you tell a young man that you believe in sex after marriage, they either think you're old-fashioned, a prude or a religious fanatic. But the benefits of sexual purity are much better than giving in to a heated moment of pleasure. They include having the gift of virginity to give to your husband, a clean conscious, no guilt and condemnation, not having to worry about an STD or pregnancy and most of all, you're doing God's will.


Of course Hollywood will disagree. In many love songs, soap operas and movies, their definition of love is purely based on sensuality without any substance. It sends out the message, "If it feels good, do it." This is in contrast to what real love is as described in 1 Corinthians 13, which states that love is patient, kind, doesn't envy, never boasts, never keeps record of wrongs, etc. This is agape love, the kind of love God has for us. The kind of love most young men know of regarding relationships is erotic love. But what they don't understand is that this kind of love comes only after marriage. When we date, we're getting to know the person and we're trying to see what their character is like and if we're equally yoked.

Sexual purity is also a blessing because when your children get older, you can talk to them about sex and you'll have an example for them to follow. The next time the enemy tempts you with sexually impure thoughts, combat them with thoughts about your wedding day and the godly legacy you'll leave for your children.
