Matthew 14:25-33 (KJV) And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
And he said, Come. And when Peter came down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
If I were to leave you with a word on today, it would simply be: Your faith must exceed your doubt. Amen, your faith must exceed your doubt.
We know from scripture that faith is the evidence of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.
When it comes to faith, you can never hear it enough. The reason for this is that life comes with ups and downs, unfavorable events that challenge our belief of what God can or will do in our lives.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are told to fight the good fight of faith and to walk by faith and not by sight.
But in order to walk by faith and not by sight, we must understand that there is a spiritual world in addition to the physical world. The spiritual world is the unseen place where spiritual beings inhabit space. They also affect, by God's permission, what happens in the physical realm.
As humans, most of us were born with five senses: sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. Believers can not conduct their lives solely by their five senses. This is because walking by faith actually requires faith.
When the Lord prophesies something in your life, it almost always has nothing to do with your personal ability or resources. It only requires faith.
If the devil can get you to rely exclusively on how things look and how you feel, there is a good chance he can get you to doubt God.
If we're honest with ourselves, we've all doubted God at some point in our lives. Even though the Lord has proved himself as a present help in our times of need over and over again. If it wasn't for the grace and mercies of God, many of us would not be alive to say that the Lord is good.
Some years ago, I heard a preacher say you have to feed your faith and starve your doubt.
The challenge is that many of us are feeding our doubts and starving our faith. Although nothing on this side of heaven is always easy, your faith must exceed your doubt.
Backsliding is not just a result of giving into the desires of the flesh. I believe it is also a lack of faith that causes one to walk in the flesh.
The devil's job is to get you to move away from Jesus Christ. If he can't do that, he will try to make life difficult for you. All of a sudden, you're having family problems, financial challenges, or health scares. It is during these times that we have to dig in our heels and stand in deep water even up to our necks.
Hebrews 11:6-11 says: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
By faith, he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
God said he would supply all of our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
God already knows our needs before we even ask. That's why you should never put your faith in a politician to fix anything. They are not your savior. They represent a system that's antichrist, antifamily, and anti life.
We are entering a time where faith is going to be needed. A faith that no man can give. A faith that only comes through Jesus Christ.
Jesus said to his disciples when the Son of man return will he find faith on the earth?
We must build up in faith because every day presents a situation that can cause us to get off course. Life is actually like a running course. If you know anything about running courses, they come with turns, uphills, downhills, curves, bumps, and sometimes slippery slopes. No one is exempt from the course.
So when Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
And he said, Come. And when Peter came down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
The wind of life can be very boisterous to the point that fear begins to grip the heart of a man. If you put your faith in Jesus, he will stretch out his hand and catch you when the storms of life seem like they're causing you to drown. All you need is a little faith, like the grain of a mustard seed.
Your faith must exceed your doubt. Give the Lord a praise, Amen.
