Do Not Be Intoxicated

One day in a studio on an FM radio in August 2024, an anchor man of a sports program introduced one of his trainees to the microphone. When he was shy or too jittery to speak about it, he was encouraged by his boss. He assured that a microphone does not bite a presenter. The trainee did not hide his negative feelings. He owned up to being fearful.

Generally speaking, there is microphone fright. Anyone can experience it. One truth is that it can be overcome.

Do you know that after overcoming Microphone fright, caution must not be thrown into the winds? Each speaker must be careful of what he says to the microphone.

Do you know that there are people who have overcome Microphone fright and become Microphone intoxicated? Please, let it be clear to you that you can be inspired by the time you are behind the microphone but you have to avoid being intoxicated by it. It should not become a source of saying indecent things.

In broadcasting parlance, I have heard from experienced Broadcasters that there is a DNB ethic or something like that. Pardon me if I make a mistake in classifying it. What is DNB? These are things that are to be avoided behind the microphone. It is Do Not Broadcast!

It is essential to be watchful and careful of what to say behind the microphone anytime and anywhere.

Having access to one is not a license to say just anything and anyhow about anyone on any matter.

The Scriptures have this to say on intoxication,
"[11]Woe to those who rise early in the morning, That they may follow intoxicating drink; Who continue until night, till wine inflames(intoxicate) them!" Isaiah 5.

Why should a person allow himself to be inflamed by a microphone? Why should he allow himself to attract woe on his head because of access to it? It is not only a wine that intoxicates, a microphone does in the lives of some people.

Thanks to the lives of the Fathers of Broadcasting. They have put Broadcasting Ethics in place. This is because it is not every word that is fit for the microphone or the air.

To God be the glory Who has given us the Holy Scriptures and great fathers of faith with sound doctrines. They made themselves available for the use of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. They did not allow any Microphone to take the lead anytime they were and were behind it.

The Lord and His servant Moses had this conversation between them,
"[10]Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
[12]Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”  Exodus 4

This was the experience of a great leader and his God. You can also learn from it. Let God through His Holy Spirit speak through you to a microphone.

Beloved, as a Minister of the Lord, do you know that the Holy Scriptures are filled with decent and edifying words that can be put in the microphone? A close walk with the Holy One and His Words will convince a discerning mind that there is no need to say things like a man who is intoxicated by the microphone.

Beloved, watch what you say behind the microphone. Better put, "Never take the microphone, let the Holy Spirit do, and all shall be, go and end well."

To some people, the mic is like wine and the Apostle Paul advises disciples in Ephesians 5 that,
"[18]And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,"_
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
