It’s happened to me; I’m pretty sure it’s happened to you. I’ve carelessly spilled something and stained a favorite article of clothing. One example tops my list; I spilled chocolate milk shake on a fur white coat. It left clearly visible stains. What about blood? Surely you know that blood stains are very hard to remove. In fact, DNA tests of today find blood stains unseen by the naked eye.

Some things go against logic.

Blood removes stains.

Jesus’ blood has removed the stain of my sins.

I’m forgiven!

“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22 ESV).”

Jesus is my stain lifter.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7 ESV).”

Here’s a prophecy prooftext…

“Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, ‘Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?’ I said to him, ‘Sir, you know.’ And he said to me, ‘These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 7:13-14 ESV).”

(After thought: Man can invent products to remove many stains. I found one that lifted chocolate stains from my white coat. Jesus alone removes the stain of sin.)
