Some movie sequels are good; some, not so good.

The sequel to the popular Father of the Bride was released in 1951. Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett and Elizabeth Taylor starred in ‘Father’s Little Dividend.’ It brought in close to 5 million at the box office; sounds good to me.

As father, Spencer Tracy was carefree after recovering from the high cost of his daughter’s wedding. That was ‘until’ he learned that he was going to be a grandfather.

GRANDFATHER!

Surely he wasn’t old enough to be a grandfather; not a grandfather…

Maybe he was a little out of shape but he wasn’t old. Being out of shape could be easily remedied with a day of exercise at the gym. He could barely move by the next morning. No pain, no gain? Apostle Paul might have put it this way; no strain, no gain.

“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained (Philippians 3:13-16 ESV).”

My Father offers high dividends. I need His strength.
