They Obey Him

In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” Luke 8:25b NIV

Why would one be amazed at what Jesus had done here? John begins his gospel by stating that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Yes, Jesus was present when the world was created, so, having the wind and waters subside was no challenge to Him. Nature obeys the Lord. When the Lord claims healing over illness, it happens. We as humans are given free will. We can choose to obey or disobey the Lord. It does not go well for those who choose to disobey Him. Punishment may not come immediately with disobedience, but, to the one who continues to disobey the Lord, the one who seeks no repentance, he shall be repaid for his disobedience.
