After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. Luke 8:1-3 NIV

We hear much about Jesus and His disciples moving about as Jesus spread the Good News. But, here, we hear of women being in their presence and that the women contributed to the financial needs of the group. We today must realize that we have a financial obligation to support the spreading of the Good News. Spreading the Good News is important to the kingdom receiving sinners who turn their lives over to Christ, and this does have financial needs. God asks us to tithe. He allows us to keep 90% but asks that we bring the first fruits of our labor to Him. He provides the whole 100% to us, so let us give back to Him what He has originally provided to us.
