The Happy Return

I was ready to slip out of the meeting having done my part, but one of the student leaders asked, "Are you going to stay around for more tonight? " Sure," I answered, "at least for awhile." I did that and had a great conversation with someone I hadn't gotten much acquainted with before, so it was profitable. Satisfied with that I slipped out and only had walked a block before I remembered I had forgotten my clipboard. Returning for the clipboard I was delighted to find the student who had asked me about staying receiving a much coveted award: her private pilot's license! Having known her father for long enough, I had never seen him smile so broadly, as he presented his own daughter with the award of "her wings." (Like Father God smiling broadly, I imagine, when we choose to exercise our "wings" of prayer and praise! 👏)  Just before that an award was presented to another student of whom I was also very proud, as her beaming  mother pinned on her daughter's medal. 🏅. I have never been so glad to have forgotten something as I was to have forgotten that clipboard! We are seeing young people undergoing dramatic positive change before our very eyes, as they acquire the confidence they will need to lead their own generation to heights that we, up to now, have been unable to reach.
