The Pope’s apology for using a derogatory slang during a meeting of bishops has been widely publicized in many media outlets.
More critical than the slip of any Pope’s tongue is the admission that there are men in the seminary and Clergy who were living double lives.
There are persons not only using this noble calling as a 'closet' and a 'cloak' to hide while indulging in sinful practices but demanding the right to live openly and promote ungodly lifestyles clearly forbidden by Scripture. They are doing so without any reverence for Almighty God or respect for the teachings of the Church.
What may be regarded as legal in this world remains unlawful in the kingdom of God.
Clergy is for the called, those set apart by God for His Holy purposes. It's not a place for personal ambition or weak moral conviction. The individual joining the Clergy is by no means a perfect person. But one who has repented and received forgivenss from the Lord and has a desire to follow and be like Him. One who surrenders his or her will daily, takes up his or her cross daily, yields and is sensitive to the Holy Spirit. One who buffets their flesh like Paul and pressrs toward the mark of the high calling in Christ. One who lays aside sin which besets and run the race set before them.
Those in the Church hierarchy who condone sinful lifestyles- How dare you! Have you not considered that you are under the influence of the adversary, the devil. It is clear you are blinded and have fallen prey to deception.
The world says "born this way". Christ says "be born again".
Sadly, there are many who refuse to receive the gift of salvation because they have a wrong understanding of God’s unconditional love. They choose to ignore the Lord's mercy. Claiming to be Christians and teaching about Christ on their own terms not according to God's word. Misleading persons who find themselves trapped in alternative lifestyles due to abuse and mental confusion.
Are they aware that they are frustrating the grace of God?
It is not right for persons to indulge in activities which defile yet demand inclusion in a place where holiness is a requirement. Any attempt to call out, correct such behavior is wrongly termed as hate speech.
It is the Divine mandate for each person who believes in the Biblical Christ taught and preached by the first apostles and early church fathers, to point others to the cross. To tell them about the cleansing power of Christ's blood and the love of our Heavenly Father who gave His son to die for sinners.
The gospel is an old message that remains relevant in every era. It brings salvation and sets the captives free. The Priest, the Pastor, any person who stands on the pulpit, must not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ but live by it- for it. Emulate Christ, and be an example. They must be willing to suffer offence for the cross.
Those who desire to do service for God must comply with the requirements of Holy living as prescribed in scripture. All who take the name of Christ must aspire to live a holy life. The Lord is willing to fill and satisfy all who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
Let us continue to pray that those on the pulpit and in the pew bound and trapped in sinful lifestyles will turn to Christ for cleansing, healing, deliverance and restoration.
