   In college I had a professor who was also a close friend.  Once when I sat next to him in the corner tavern, a favorite haunt of ours, I opened a letter that I had just received. "Can I take a closer look at that envelope?" He asked.
"Sure." I replied. 
"There's a scent on this envelope, a perfume.  That's a good sign."  
"Really, I hadn't noticed."  I was clueless. 
"That means you are in her favor. She sees you as special."
"Wow. Thanks for pointing that out to me."  He smiled back at me.
   Why does this memory come back to me now, I wonder?  But I have an idea why.  It's because many of us are called to be that observant professor to those who are reading their Bibles without realizing that it's a love letter 💌 they are reading. They don't detect the scent that God has lavished on that letter, how He has perfumed that letter with the aroma of His special favored affection for them.  They are as clueless as I was that afternoon.  And many of us, who are just as prone to miss the scent, are called to clue them in ever so gently as we, like detectives of destiny, continue picking up the precious clues ourselves.
