Did you check the pockets?

It might pay off with pocket change. On the other hand, it might prevent a laundry mishap. Tissue often hides in the deepest recesses of our pockets. We discover our negligence after the spin cycle.

Mom, did you check your little boy’s pockets? It’s not for the faint of heart and safer to let them do it for you. Boys have been known to even hide frogs and garden snakes in their jeans’ pockets.

Inventory of pockets could reveal anything from tissue to critters; be honest, you hope to find folded money. What happens if there’s a hole in your pocket? It’s as bad as carrying a bucket or money bag with holes.

“Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes (Haggai 1:5-6 ESV).”

Will we consider our ways?  Have we left God out of financial planning?

“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:31-33 ESV).”
