Working for God.    Lois Eaton

When my daughter was a toddler, she loved to come shopping with me. I made it her job, once I had put all the groceries on the counter, to push the trolley through to the other end of the counter. She loved this job.

In the same way, God gives us jobs, according to our gifts and maturity.

God could manage fine without us. Just as I could have easily pushed the trolly that short distance on my own, God can work miracles and do whatever He wants without us.

But He gives us jobs to do BECAUSE HE LOVES US!

He WANTS us to be a part of what He is doing. So He has determined that many things WE have to do. As we are obedient in those things, we will grow in Him and gain the abilities and faith needed to tackle harder jobs.

My daughter quickly grew to the point where she would fetch items for me.

And then that dreadful day when she wanted to be allowed to put the trolley back in its place and walk back to the car on her own. You can be sure I watched her VERY carefully.

God understands that we are imperfect and makes mistakes. But He still wants to work through us. What love!

And what a glorious honour to be included in the amazing plans of God.

Lord, we thank You for including us in your plans. Please help us rise up in faith and obedience and do the work you give us to do. Help us know what it is you are wanting of us. Help us know when we get it wrong and are doing things from our own strength instead of trusting in You. Thank You Lord, that your plans for us are so wonderful.
