Have you heard the expression, "One man's food is another man's poison."? The statement is excellent and true. That is the reason for each person to know what is good for him and what is not.

A type of food that makes one man fat and robust can cause another man to experience excessive weight loss or leanness. That is why everyone needs to know what is fit and proper food for him to eat at any point in time.

What holds for individuals applies to family members together. Do you know that what sustains one family could destroy another, if care is not taken?

The experience of a family in the first quarter of year twenty twenty-four is an example. A Deaconess family experienced a serious cough. It affected both the young and the old. It was worse for the young ones in the family.

It was later that the woman identified the cause of the cough. What was it? Okro soup! How did she know? She observed that as soon as she stopped preparing the soup for the family, the cough that had defied every treatment and meditation vanished from the family.

The woman observed that since her family was set up, she has never prepared okro soup for the family. The children were not used to it. She introduced it into the family menu because of the inflation in the country. She vowed never to try cooking okro soup for the family.

The question now is, "Is it evil to eat okro soup?" No! It is not. Some families cannot do but eat okro regularly and nothing bad happens to them.

Do you know that the Lord our God also cares about us to the extent that He is interested in our health status? He knows what His people can eat which can negatively affect their health.
He said,
"[20]But you may eat any winged bird or insect that is ceremonially clean.
[21]“You must not eat anything that has died a natural death. You may give it to a foreigner living in your town, or you may sell it to a stranger. But do not eat it yourselves, for you are set apart as holy to the lord your God.“ Deuteronomy 14, NLT.

God's family members are holy unto the Lord and they are expected to watch what they eat that will not cause pollution to them. Unclean food causes contamination. The Lord will not want this to happen to His people at all.

What people of God should not eat as people set apart for the Lord is a recommended menu for strangers and foreigners. It is not an offense. Their body system could take it and they will be free.

That is the reason people of God should not compare themselves with anyone who is not a member of the family of God. They are separate and holy.

Beloved, watch what you eat. Is it of value to your body? Is it approved by the Lord your God? May you not eat wrongly in Jesus' mighty name.

An individual can be restricted from eating or drinking certain things for different reasons. Before the conception of Samson, the servant of God, an Angel of God warned his mother to flee from eating or drinking certain foods and drinks. She paid attention to them during her pregnancy because of the uncommon child who was then on his way into the world through the family.

During the period, other members of the family were free to eat and drink what the woman was forbidden to. Not only that, after the birth of the man child, the woman was free to eat what she was once forbidden to eat, except she chose to continue as a form of service to the Lord her God.

Beloved Pilgrim, do not disobey the Lord your God if He forbids you from eating a kind of food or drinking a form of drink, temporarily or permanently. May you not be the enemy of your soul in the name of Jesus Christ. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
