People with great destinies are always the target of the kingdom of darkness. A man of God who went through hard times since his birth recently said, "If God has an investment in your life, Satan will not clap for you."
The three-part assignment of a thief remains to steal, to kill, and to destroy. These are the evil goals of the enemies of everyone's destiny.
One common area of attack is marriage. Whoever marries wrongly is in for great trouble. A great man of God once said "Whoever escapes the torment of wrong marriage enjoys an uncommon mercy of God." That is what holds any day.
Judah was a man who had a very nasty marriage and he had no one to blame for it except himself. His marriage was in this manner, according to the Holy Scriptures,
"[1]About this time, Judah left home and moved to Adullam, where he stayed with a man named Hirah.
[2]There he saw a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua, and he married her. When he slept with her,..." Genesis 38.
There were three sons from this marriage, Er, Onan, and Shelah. The first and the second sons did evil before God and He killed them. No one resembled his father but took after their mother's wickedness.
She was a strange woman, a Canaanite, who used to put on strange apparel and she finally gave birth to strange children. She belonged to a race awaiting destruction because of their evil ways of living.
This was a race Judah had gone to marry a wife, a man of great destiny.
Judah in Destiny.
In the twilight of Jacob's life, he called his children together to bless them. It was during this time that the nakedness of Judah's destiny was revealed, possibly to him and his brothers who were present. Unlike Joseph, no record in the Holy Scriptures to show that he dreamed of who he would become in the future although he demonstrated certain traits of greatness in that when Judah spoke, he had his ways, (Genesis 37:26-28; 43:8-14; 44:18-34.)
Jacob, his father declared,
"49:8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
49:9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
49:10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
49:11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
49:12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk." Genesis.
It was sad that this man of authority traded his authority with immorality. However, he recovered it with shame.
Divine intervention.
It was through his immoral act with his daughter-in-law, Tamar, although not deliberate, that the Lord gave two sons to Judah to bring the fulfillment of his destiny back on track. The Lord will always hear the prayer of the righteous. The Lord heard Tamar who called on Him in secret and He answered her in public. Judah testified to this thus,
"38:26 And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more." Genesis.
The Lord's intervention brought in the birth of Phares who fitted in the lineage of Jesus Christ.
Beloved Pilgrim, you may have been wounded in destiny, do not lament on it forever. Turn to the Lord your God, He is the Author and Finisher of your faith. He will intervene and restore things to normalcy. You will fulfill your destiny and generations after you will benefit from it. Move on in the Lord, although you may have certain shame to bear. Let it be stated that, you should be a person of integrity, do not continue in sin. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
