A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

“Study this Book…continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed.” (Joshua 1:8 NLT)

Many people think that success comes from having power, the right clothes, and influential friends who will get us the most “likes”. Hopefully, you have found out that having all the “stuff” doesn’t make a person happy, or to use a Biblical term, blessed. Joshua discovered it early with God’s help. If he was going to make it and succeed, he had to re-program his thoughts.

Are your thoughts worth a penny 

An old expression that’s not heard much anymore, “a penny for your thoughts” is one my aunt used to probe me with while riding in the car. I don’t remember what I replied but doubt that it was very earth shaking. Since then, I did my best to investigate a variety of insightful books for answers to life and keys to success, but there was always something missing.

Have you discovered the value of your thoughts?

God speaks of man’s thoughts throughout the Bible: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Prov 23:7b NKJV); “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” (Prov 4:23 NKJV); “…bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Cor 10:5 NKJV)

With all the distractions of social media, what a battle we face today in renewing our minds, and so being transformed into our Victor’s likeness. Jesus has overcome this world. So must we make time to meditate upon His Word daily and, with His help, walk it out.

The Bible remains the only Book that truly leads to life. And that life is in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who stands ready to help us.
