You Gotta Fight For This

First Timothy 6:12 says:

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

If I were to leave you with a thought, it would simply be: you gotta fight for this.

If you know anything about fighting, you know that fighting is not easy. You're competing against an opponent and your objective is to win the fight. Fighting involves a skill set and a discipline in order to be successful. You're training day and night, three or four hours a day.

Fighting camps can last anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks at a time.  Professional fighters are known as prizefighters which includes mixed martial arts and boxers for example. Prizefighters are also known as professional warriors and their weapons are their hands and feet.

As believers in Christ, the Bible tells us, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

As believers in Christ, we are involved in a different fight. Our fight is not in the natural but in the supernatural.

Ephesians 6:12 says, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This fight is unlike a natural fight. A fight whereas once the fight is finished, it is now over. As long as you have breath in your body, you have to fight. No options will be given. You gotta fight for this.

The enemy seeks to brings us back to our natural state, the state of sin. The enemy desires to sift us as wheat. He desires to pull us away from the Lord. The enemy desires to make us walk in the flesh and not the spirit.

But the Apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 5:17, For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. You gotta fight for this.

Romans 8 verse 7 says the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The enemy is not going to allow you to just serve God and live. He wants you to serve the devil and die.

In closing, As time goes on, I'm convinced that you have to fight to stay saved. Your flesh doesn't want this. Your flesh wants the things of this world, not the things that belong to God. That's why praying and fasting is important. Not just praying but praying and Fasting.

Just as fighter prepares for a fight through boxing drills and sparring, you have to go through drills of praying and fasting because your flesh doesn't want this. You gotta fight for this. The Christian life is not an easy life. If it was that easy everyone would be saved and there would be no such thing as backsliding.

How many of you know that God is married to the backslider? He'll never leave you nor forsake you. Who wouldn't want to serve a God like this. Inspite of all the wrong that we've done, his hands are stretched out still.

The Lord never said you wouldn't go through nothing. He never promised an easy Christian life. He promised peace through the storm and way of escape. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.

Jesus told his disciples: these things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Jesus went through something why not you? Keep on fighting, God is with you. Amen.
