Bent Down and Wrote

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. John 8:6b NIV

Why did not Jesus immediately answer their question, but instead chose to bend down and write with His finger? Certainly, He already knew what He would say to these people. Quite possibly He wanted to let them all stew in their hatred and blindness. He may have also wanted the adulteress to think some about the sin she had committed. Applying this to today, does Jesus immediately answer when we speak with Him? No, not necessarily. He may wish to give us time to ponder that for which we ask. He also may wish to test our faith and perseverance. And what about His writing? Does He not speak with your heart at times after a request from you. So, instead of writing on the dirt or clay as Jesus did in this situation, instead He is writing on your heart.
