The Trial Of Our Faith

How oft God works in ways we can’t see,
And our eyes of faith can quickly dim;
For ‘this time’ we just can’t understand!
Is God worthy of our trust in Him?

And then, in the midst of a trial,
When we cry to our God for relief,
It seems He does not hear our heart’s cries,
Or truly care about our deep grief.

In those times when our God seems silent,
Our enemy whispers grievous lies;
He tries to quench our faith in our Lord,
And, away from Him, turn our soul’s eyes.

Oh, we may feel like we’re all alone,
And just don’t have the strength to go on;
But if we fix our eyes on Jesus,
He speaks truth, and fills us with a song.

“Though He slay me, I will trust in Him!
When He’s silent, I am not alone!
For my dear Savior knows my heart’s cry,
And He cares, and hears, from His great throne.”

“I choose to trust God, Who cannot fail!
I know His great promises are true!
Some day, I will see Him face to face,
And fully know His goodness, anew.”

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in Whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory; receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
