      One may have the best books and videos supplied to them.  They may have taken the best of classes and earned so many degrees that one could put the word ‘Fahrenheit’ at the end of their name.  However, unless one makes the effort to apply what they have learned to the problems at hand, their efforts—and talk—will be useless.

      The same thing may be said about the KJV Bible.  A Christian may know the names of every bible book. However, until one applies them, such knowledge is useless.  My friend, you are doing nothing more than paying ‘lip service’ to serving God.  Not only is such action hypocritical, but it also makes the whole church look weak and ineffective.  Also, it is a poor testimony of your faith. 

      At the bottom line my friend, it’s all about application—not mere memorization.

      During my days as a Probation Officer, I had many clients and parents who could recite the orders of the court forwards and backwards.  Sadly, the probationer who decided that the ‘rules’ were not for him/her wound up violating their probation and had to face the judge.  Those hearings were very painful to watch, especially when the judge laid down the gavel and sent the young person further into the criminal justice system—now as an adult.

      Discipline in marriage, relationships, or on the job is directly tied to the truths that one is willing to apply and obey—not merely ‘talk’ about.  Going to school is a drag for the student who is not interested in applying what they are being taught.  The student who is serious about wanting to apply their lessons has an ‘inner hunger’ to succeed.  Those students who do not have that hunger are often left behind.  Many failing students would rather complain than apply what they have learned.  That’s why we have so many ‘whiners’ instead of achievers in society today.

      A few years back, the ‘cry’ went up for more mentors; those who could work with youth (and their families) and help them turn their lives around.  Many mentors went away from their assignments heartbroken and disappointed, as their ‘mentees’ paid lip service to their advice and proceeded to ‘do their own thing’.  Many tutors quit well-paying gigs because they knew those whom they were tutoring refused to apply what they were being taught. 

      Application, my friend, is necessary to become a success in life.  The street corners and graveyards are full of those who ‘did it their way’; failed to listen to their elders and apply what they learned.  Young person, you can be as hardheaded as you want—but reality oftentimes shines a cruel, bright light on stubbornness! Social media is full of ‘sliders’, not DOERS!
