His Flesh and Blood

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” John 6:53 NIV

Did not the Pharisees and Jewish leaders know about symbolic speaking? Was everything ever uttered to them taken literally? What a very boring mindset that would be to possess.

If we live our life according to that which is Jesus, then we are a reflection of His love, and mercy and all which is good. In our body we carry that which is good, given to us by God through His Son Jesus. If we truly have life within us, the life which comes through Jesus Christ, then His blood is our blood, the blood which keeps us living in Him and doing His will. Yes, to truly live, one must “eat” the flesh of Christ, and drink His blood.
