Donald Trump Should Study King Hezekiah

Not my will but your will.

Several years ago, I finally understood the idea of praying for something to transpire only to conclude with “not my will but your will.”

So, praying for God to cure a loved one’s illness BUT only if their healing was God’s will. Huh? Then why pray. Why pray at all? And why wouldn’t the healing of a cancer diagnosis, for example, be God’s will?  Lord, please heal this person but only if it’s your will. Well, that makes no sense. As difficult as it may be, I understand now.

If you attend a real church, like I do now, you might study actual books of the Bible in that you go verse by verse, chapter by chapter book by book through the Bible. Then and only then, as I can attest, will you learn and grow in your knowledge and faith. If you click on the above link you will see I am still irritated by all those wasted years of learning and growing at a flatline rate.

But I digress.

King Hezekiah was widely considered one of Israel’s best kings. In fact, he was destined to possibly go down as one of Israel’s all-time greats if not the greatest king. He did a lot of good. Then he got sick. He begged and pleaded for the Lord to spare his life and God complied. Your will not my will. Who’s will?

God sometimes gives us over to our will. Passive or permissive will, meaning God allows it. King Hezekiah so much wanted to live God said not my will but your will and in the 2 Kings 20 account He gave King Hezekiah 15 more years which turned into a disaster. Never mind after his recovery King Hezekiah showed off all his precious things to the Babylonians which afterwards Isaiah prophesied would be carried away. King Hezekiah brought forth Manasseh one of the worst kings in Israeli history. Had King Hezekiah died when God appointed him to die Manasseh would have never been born.

What’s this have to do with Donald Trump?

It’s quite possible that Donald Trump fulfilled his God given destiny already as president of the United States. I believe if he’d just go away Mr. Trump would not be facing any criminal charges that could put him away for the rest of his life. Instead, like King Hezekiah, the Lord may be allowing His passive will with former President Trump.

Daniel 2:21 states that God raises kings up and brings them down. Indeed, Trump was raised by God to the presidency just as Joe Biden. Did Mr. Trump serve his God given purpose? Quite possibly. But in his effort to regain power, return for retribution or simply to prove he was right regarding the questionable 2020 election or all of the above, he as always, moves forward like a bull in a China shop.

I heard Mr. Trump became a Christian. Who knows what to believe anymore but he should study the fate of King Hezekiah and whether or not God wants him to run for president, again. Mr. Trump puts his life on the line every time he campaigns. Watching the last few years as well as his presidency along with this unprecedented and feverish hate by his opposition, for no other reason than he exists outside the political bubble, arises a very serious concern for his well-being.

Don’t misunderstand, I’d prefer he not run. Enough already with his boorish demeanor. Take your money and run away, if you will. Disappear with your wife and kids and become an afterthought. Live for your family and the Lord’s will. His time, perhaps, has come and gone and with the egregiousness of his political enemies desperately throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, I don’t believe he will ever set foot again in the White House even if he wins the primaries and somehow wins the general election in 2024.

They won’t let him.

King Hezekiah erred in his desire to retain power. Donald Trump might be making the same mistake.

Let God do His will and in the end we all win.
