To those who search for gallant princes,
With armor polished and refined.
Don’t neglect your inner wisdom,
And weigh him only with your eyes.

Do not sell your heart too cheaply,
Or needless cause your soul to grieve.
For there are those that seek your treasure,
Who are no more than common thieves.

Don’t let his words of sugar take you,
To places that you should not go.
Use caution while you make your judgment,
Be patient with your heart and soul.

Do not lay your gifts before him,
In fear that he may bid retreat.
If it’s true love that he is seeking,
He will wait to share your treats.

Your treasure is a great possession,
A valued jewel of worth untold.
True love’s reward is this gift given,
But never before love links the soul.

For he may leave you with a present,
A reminder of a love not true.
Don’t let him be your man of sorrow,
Whose purpose was to steal from you.

There are those who only seek you,
For this treasure of your youth.
Their words are often the best weapon,
Speaking lies instead of truth.

You may ask why I would write this,
The answer is a father’s plea.
I have three daughters, which I counsel,
To be aware of common thieves.
