“And Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see not may be made blind.’
Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, ‘ Are we blind also?’
Jesus said to them, ‘If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains. John 9: 39-41
The healed man had his physical blindness healed and now his spiritual eyes received their sight upon acceptance of the Son of God who had performed this miracle.
Jesus said that His entrance into this world, for the sake of the salvation of souls, was already a pronouncement of judgment.
The salvation would only come to those who saw their need, their blindness, as they would have their eyes opened spiritually. But those who claimed already to see and felt no need for salvation were condemned to the blindness of their hearts. Their souls would remain in darkness though they claimed to be in the light.
