Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. John 5:25 NIV
Here Christ is speaking of those who are spiritually dead. Those who hear the voice of Christ must hear it with their heart in order to live. Those who only hear with their ears will not allow Christ’s words to enter their heart and thus will not be obedient to Him. Those who open up their hearts to Christ will realize that they have not the ability on their own to live a life according to Christ. The Holy Spirit must indwell the believer. The Holy Spirit will guide the believer into the Word of Christ. Through the Holy Spirit one’s heart can accept Christ.
