When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” Matthew 9:11 NIV
The Pharisees were so caught up in their self-righteousness and believed that a teacher like Jesus should not be eating with tax collectors and sinners. They did not even recognize their own sinfulness and that they needed to repent. Jesus came to save, and only those who know that they do not measure up to God’s requirements will seek a way to be reconnected to Him. Jesus is the bridge between the Father and man. Are you not glad that Jesus chose to eat with those He did?
