Narrow and Wide

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NIV

Why is the gate which leads to Christ so narrow, and few find it? It is because the narrow gate requires sacrifice on our part. Christ died for us, and we must die to ourselves. What does this mean? Does this mean that we ignore taking care of ourselves? No, it does not, but it does mean that we put the needs of others ahead of the desires for ourselves, particularly when it comes to materialistic desires. As Christ tells us, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. Take care of yourself that you may be of service to others. Please God first and you will be abundantly blessed.
