How did Baby Boomers live without Nintendo?

As children we were fascinated by simpler things; we could hardly wait for the circus or firemen’s field days to come to town. Boys and girls were happy with occasional trips to the zoo and regular visits to the park or playground. Black & white television was a treat.

I remember sitting in front of the families only TV to watch Kukla, Fran and Ollie puppet shows. Before you wonder, yes I remember Howdy Doody, Buffalo Bob and the peanut gallery too.

I never thought I’d have something in common with Howdy Doody.

I wasn’t born with red hair, or freckles.

I’m no spring chicken and now see that we have a shared physical trait. He had lines coming down from each side of his mouth allowing his mouth to open and close. At 73, I not only have crow’s feet but mouth puppet wrinkle lines too.

You can just call me Puppet Pam.

Elvis fans might remember a scene from GI Blues. He and co-star Juliet Prowse were in a park and came upon a marionette puppet show. They joined in the show as Elvis sang ‘Wooden Heart.’

I don’t have a wooden heart and I’m not a puppet on a string.

God has given me free will and a new heart.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you (Ezekiel 36:26a HCSB).”
