The Last Twitchings

  We are now seeing some of the last grotesque twitchings and quiverings of the wicked one whom Jesus decapitated at the Cross.  Even David the ancestor of Jesus the Son of David did likewise,  decapitating the great giant Goliath with Goliath's own sword. (1 Samuel  17 v51) And in like manner, the devil was defeated by his own device and  weapon and wounded with a wound that was fatal but not yet final, his weapon being death and the cross that he intended to use to destroy Jesus. (It bears mentioning, however,  that snakes can still do damage even after decapitation, as they thrash around and even continue to bite in the process of gradually dying.) This was the most dramatic and significant reversal in all human history, which is predicated on reversals. 
  We see the same ironical pattern of reversal in the Biblical Book of Esther where the wicked Haman was hung on the very gallows he had built for the execution of his arch enemy Mordecai, who had refused to bow down to him.  (Esther 7 v.10) Mordecai survived and was favored and honored by the king instead, in the prized and influential place that Haman had once occupied.
